Rabbi Allen Secher returns to St. Augustine where he was arrested with 15 other rabbis on Jun 18, 1964. National publicity on this event led to immediate passage of the long delayed Civil Rights Act in the Senate.

Portrayed by actor Adam Bell, Secher takes the stage following the show for an audience discussion on the future of the Civil Rights Act now under assault in Congress and the Courts. This Bet Yam synagogue 6 p.m. performance of When The Rabbis Came To Town is preceded by a ticketed VIP gathering at the same location from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Secher, 91, is thrilled to return to St. Augustine where this show sold out in June. He will discuss some of the positive changes here including the recent election of Cynthia Garris, the city’s first black mayor in its 450 year history,
